It’s been a hell of a last couple of months, and I haven’t really had the time or energy to write to you. Here’s the deal.
In the last few months, I’ve struggled to stay on top of everything. With new client intakes, I’ve had a record client workload. I planned to release my new books on January 1st, but with all the work involved I had to delay the full release by a week. On top of all that, I had to deal with two major business trips and a recurring cold that came back four times (the most recent being literally this week). Juggling all this quickly became a nightmare, and I struggled to do any side work - including personal development or work on other side projects.
I feel like I’m just now getting my head above water, a full month after the book release. I look forward to a much more productive February, and much more to come. Here’s the skinny.
Stats For January
January has been marked, again, by a lot of setbacks in my personal fitness. Two major business trips, four minor colds, and of course the stress and workload of dealing with a book release have all set me back quite a bit. As a result, I’ve found it hard to train more than 2-3x/week in January, and I was forced to shift my efforts to maintenance over development.
I’ve also been dealing with a little bit of wavering motivation, for my part. I’ve grown a bit tired of training for strength for over five years straight now, and I’m considering getting more into training for mass after this cycle is (finally) up. So, returning to consistency is the main goal in the coming month.
All the same, I’ve been seeing some awesome progress despite my lack of dedicated training time: including a major squat PR and a minor bench PR. I’ve been experimenting with a new program that’s HIT inspired, and I’ll be doing a writeup of it soon.
Travel and work have combined to make it hard for me to attend classes, but at the same time I’ve been focusing on picking more up where I can - through podcasts, movies, television, and so on. This has been useful in maintaining and developing, especially since I’ve been travelling and had free time during travel.
Little time for personal writing.
You’d think that with all the travel, I’d have had more time to read, but you’d be wrong - I put a lot of that time into catching up on television and work, and as a result I’m a bit behind compared to my usual reading output.
Television has been a big focus lately - I’m almost through my entire bucket list. I’ve recently run out of low-focus English-speaking television, leaving only a couple high-focus English-speaking television shows remaining, and plenty of foreign language shows which require a high focus by default. In January I focused on watching through a lot of foreign language television, and that’s almost completely ground down as well. I’m predicting a complete finish to my television list in the next month or two, finally.
While I haven’t had much time for games, I’ve also been running down on finishing my current stock of games as well. I started with all the quick stuff first, leaving only a couple long RPG’s remaining. At this point, I’m solely down to Witcher 3, which I’ve been enjoying immensely, but also looks like it might take several months of free time to work through. We’ll see!
The last couple months have been wildly busy: taking on new clients, balancing everything while travelling, and prepping the books for launch. The books have gone over well, but after the initial launch I’ve done very little for continued advertisement, something I plan to be ramping up over the next month or two when I’ve got a bit more time.
At the same time, I’m reaching the point where I’m getting close to really cutting off client intake for good. I used to say that 40 clients would be my stopping point, but at this point I’ve just finished signing my 45th. I’ll be enforcing stricter limits on how many clients I take on per month in the future, since I can’t handle too many more with my current workload. This means that my business has roughly tripled in size in the last year and a half - an absolutely awesome result. Other client income is a bit high this month due to a couple prepays, so I'm expecting next month to be a bit lower, comparatively.
Other Clients: $3185
Other Income: $580
Product Income: $151.81
January was a hella productive month, but it was also a month where I was swamped with work. The plan for February is to be able to rest, relax, and come back stronger. Goals for this month include finishing up my television bucket list, getting some more personal writing in, sticking fully to a 2x/week posting schedule, finishing a proper landing page for my book products, starting advertising for those books, and of course just having more free time.
